The Interpretive Guide welcomes visitors to both the Welcome Centre/Gift Shop and the Lighthouse. These two buildings are located at either end of a 1,000' walking path, necessitating one interpretive guide at each location (50% hours at each location). At the lighthouse the guide maintains visitor counts, accepts donations, and conducts guided tours while answering questions and providing additional information about the lighthouse, displays, the lantern room, and the keepers who have maintained the light. They also provide information about the island's fisheries, marine life, and the seabirds seen regularly from the peninsula. Within the Welcome Centre/Gift Shop, they maintain visitor counts, assist with parking and directions to the lighthouse, sell merchandise, and provide information as needed. A few hours each week are devoted to light cleaning duties and lawn mowing. Daily visitor counts, sales and donations summaries, bank deposits, and daily reconciliation are completed.
