The main duties will include, but are not limited to;
Receiving and storing food.
Helping with food/ fund raising activities.
Day to day operations such as client intakes, packing food hampers, cleaning, greeting faces, cleaning the food bank. The Food Safety and Handling course is required.
Gardening is also a big part of the foodbank. Assist the current employees on programs with day to day operations.
Administrative work, answering phones. A St. George and Area Food Bank Oath of Confidentiality agreement must be signed.
recording and sharing weekly on social media- information sessions about various gardening and food security topics. Where the community garden is and how to access it, household composting, plant diseases and pests- what to look for, planting and pairing tips, how to grow vegetables indoors, foraging, how to harvest and store vegetables, fruit trees and bushes, edible weeds., and sharing information on how best to prepare, eat and store products.
